Univision News promotes Requena, Romo, Cotte and Pons

August 11, 2021 by Veronica Villafañe

Univision News today announced the promotions of Arianna Requena, David Romo, Elizabeth Cotte and Roberto E. Pons.

Requena moves up to VP of News Gathering, responsible for supervising and assigning daily stories for all newscasts. In this new role, she’ll also plan and coordinate exclusive interviews, series, and special news coverage, as well as manage correspondents and assignment editors. She was most recently head of Univision Network News assignment desk. Before that, she was a producer for Univision 23 Miami.

Romo is upped to VP of News Production. He’ll oversee daily production and broadcast of all newscasts, special events coverage and breaking news and manage news producers. Prior to the promotion, Romo was a producer for Univision News and all its special programs.

Cotte is now Director and Executive Producer. She’ll be in charge of Edición Digital, Despierta América, News and Special Projects. She’ll also manage news producers in conjunction with Romo. Leading up to the promotion, she was EP. She has been with Noticiero Univision for over 20 years, producing Univision’s daily newscasts, special programs and coverage.

Pons takes on a new role as General Producer. He’ll oversee Noticiero Univision and Noticiero Univision Edición Nocturna and their producers. He was most recently line producer for Noticiero Univision. He previously worked for Univision 23 Miami as executive producer and assignment desk editor for Univision News.

They will all report to María Martínez-Guzmán, who was promoted to EVP of News in July, when the company announced the departure of Univision News president Daniel Coronell.
