Canela Media hires Maggie Salas-Amaro to lead new content platform

February 21, 2022 by Veronica Villafañe

Canela Media has hired Maggie Salas-Amaro as Director of Canela Kids.

She’ll be tasked with the rollout of a new children’s content platform, which will be launched on AVOD streaming service Canela.TV in the coming months.

According to the company, the Canela Kids app will allow Latino parents to share and celebrate Hispanic culture during key stages of a child’s development.

Salas-Amaro previously worked at E.W. Scripps’ WPTV as a producer for the station’s Sunday morning political program and manager of specialty content and OTT production until December 2020.

Prior to Scripps, she spent a year as a special project manager for pre-launch content and marketing for NBC Universal streamer Peacock.

Before that, she worked as a producer at Miami’s Univision 23 on regional public affairs program Al Punto Florida.

A former network executive, Salas-Amaro held a variety of executive roles, including Director Programming and Acquisitions for Hola TV, Director Lifestyle and Entertainment for Fox International Channels, and Director Programming and Network Strategy for Telemundo Network, where she was participated in launching the branded block QUBO with NBC.
