Samantha Rivera

Samantha Rivera named sports anchor and reporter at WMAQ

September 21, 2022 by Veronica Villafañe

Samantha Rivera has joined Chicago NBC owned station WMAQ as a sports anchor and reporter.

In addition to NBC5, the Chicago native will also contribute to Telemundo Chicago and NBC Sports Chicago.

Rivera returns to her hometown from San Diego, where she had been a bilingual reporter for National Women’s Soccer League’s San Diego Wave FC. She was previously a sports reporter and MMJ at KSWB in San Diego.

Before her move to San Diego, she worked as a sports anchor at WTVO-WQRF in Rockford, Ill. and as a morning reporter and anchor at WLUC in Marquette, Mich.

While in college, she co-hosted a podcast for Univision Radio Chicago, targeting millennials.

Rivera will make her debut in late September.
