Carolina Cruz promoted to weekday morning anchor at KCTV5

October 21, 2022 by Veronica Villafañe

Carolina Cruz has been promoted from weekend to weekday morning anchor at the CBS affiliate in Kansas City, Missouri.

She had been anchoring weekday mornings on an interim basis since May, but was officially given the position last week.

She becomes the first Latina to permanently anchor a weekday show at KCTV5.

Cruz will also anchor the news segment of the station’s morning entertainment show KCTV5 News at 9 and the noon newscast.

Earlier this year, she also filled in as anchor for the station’s weekday evening newscasts from January to May.

Cruz joined the station in October 2020 as weekend anchor and reporter.

She previously worked as a reporter at WFSB in Hartford, Connecticut and KRGV in the Rio Grande Valley.
