Anchor Ana Cabrera bids CNN farewell

Ana Cabrera CNN farewell 12-22-22

After almost a decade at CNN, anchor Ana Cabrera said her goodbyes to viewers, colleagues, and the network.

According to various media outlets, including TVNewser and the LA Times, she will be joining NBCUniversal News Group, likely heading over to MSNBC.

During her final CNN Newsroom appearance on December 22, Cabrera said her departure was a personal and “tough decision,” making it clear she was not part of a wave of layoffs at the network.

She expressed gratitude to her crew, colleagues, friends and audience, even saying a few words and thanks in Spanish.

“It’s hard to say goodbye to this place and the people here who mean so much to me. However, I’m not saying goodbye to the work I love. I’m committed to learning and growing as a journalist and I’m excited to begin a new chapter in my career. But first, I intend to take some time in the new year to just enjoy my family. So for now, thanks again…. Please stay tuned.”

Cabrera, who joined CNN in 2013 as a Denver-based correspondent, became a weekend anchor in 2017. She joined the 1 pm ET weekday edition of CNN Newsroom in 2021.

Prior to CNN, she spent four years as a morning anchor for KMGH-TV 7 News, the ABC affiliate in Denver.
