Former Univision sports anchor charged with murder

July 6, 2023 by Veronica Villafañe

Former San Antonio sports anchor Johnathan Solarte was charged with murder.

He was arrested after an argument with a family member ended in a fatal shooting in his home on July 3, according to Corpus Christi police.

The San Antonio Express-News reports Solarte was released from jail on a $300,000 bond on Wednesday, July 5, while the investigation continues.

Solarte was previously arrested in 2017 for allegedly trying to flee police after a traffic stop and booked on a third-degree felony charge of evading arrest. That case was ultimately dismissed.

Prior to Univision, he also worked for Telemundo San Antonio.
