February 14, 2024 by Veronica Villafañe

Anchor, investigative reporter and host Rafael Sánchez has left ABC affiliate WRTV-6 after a 26-year run.

The multi-award-winning journalist had been the Indianapolis station’s “Good Morning Indiana” co-anchor since October 2019.

His last broadcast was February 9. During his tenure, he also briefly anchored 7 and 4 pm newscasts and hosted a political program.

In a post he shared across social media, Sánchez wrote: “It’s been a whirlwind. It’s been a privilege. It’s been an act of love. Thank you for your support and feedback.”

He did not reveal what he’ll be doing next, but said he’ll will continue emceeing and hosting charitable events. He also said he plans “to be active on social media.”

Before launching a more than two-decade career at WRTV, he did reporter stints at CBS affiliate WSBT-22 in South Bend and WANE-15 in Fort Wayne, IN, as well as stations in Texas and Arizona.

A New York native, whose parents are from the Dominican Republic, Sánchez said he will remain in Indianapolis.
