Univision names Núñez Regional News Director, ups Godinez to AND at KDTV

September 21, 2017 by Veronica Villafañe

Univision promotes Carolina Núñez and Luis Felipe Godinez.

Effective today, Univision has promoted Carolina Núñez to VP, Regional News Director, responsible for the company’s newsrooms in the San Francisco Bay area, Sacramento, Fresno and Bakersfield.

Until now, she was News Director at KDTV 14 – a role she held since 2011.

Her promotion was announced about a month after Pablo Iacub’s exit as Univision Regional News Director. Iacub did not oversee the SF newsroom. Nuñez will have a much broader role and responsibilities.

Núñez will continue to be based at KDTV’s Univision Bay Area headquarters, currently located in San Jose. She’ll be reporting to multiple people: Raúl Rodríguez, VP and GM of Univision Bay Area, Steve Stuck, VP and GM of Univision Sacramento and Fresno, and Chris Peña, SVP of News, Local Media.

Nuñez has worked in multiple capacities within Univision since 2006, including morning show producer and news producer at KMEX Los Angeles and Online Media Publisher at KDTV, before landing the News Director job.

Given her expanded responsibilities, the company also promoted Luis Felipe Godinez today to Assistant News Director at KDTV, to help lead local news operations.

Godinez joined KDTV 14 as Executive Producer in 2012. He was previously an anchor and producer for KINC Univision Nevada. He also worked as a reporter, video journalist and anchor for Univision in Colorado and Texas.

Godinez will report to Núñez.
