Telemundo Sacramento hires Martínez as co-anchor; Malavé as ND

October 17, 2017 by Veronica Villafañe

Guillermo Martínez and Steve Malavé have joined KCSO-TV Telemundo 33 Sacramento.

Martínez will co-anchor the station’s only newscast at 6 pm Monday through Friday with Regina Guillén.

He replaces Florentino Mesa, who left the station earlier this year, just months after the launch of the Telemundo Sacramento newscast.

Martínez previously worked as primetime anchor at KDEN Telemundo Denver from 2014 to 2016. Before that, he was a producer and 11 pm anchor for the Entravision-owned Telemundo affiliate in San Diego.

Malavé officially joins the Serestar Communications-owned station as News Director after consulting for three months.

Malavé was most recently Executive Producer and News Content Manager for KXTV ABC10 in Sacramento. He was previously Senior News Content Producer at the now defunct MundoFox and News Director at NPR affiliate WUSF in Tampa. He has also held executive positions at Univision, New York and Sacramento.
