Enrique Chiabra - Guillermo Ochoa - Tania Leal
L to R: Enrique Chiabra, Guillermo Ochoa and Tania Leal.

Telemundo 52 names Chiabra weeknight anchor; adds Ochoa and Leal

May 24, 2018 by Veronica Villafañe

KVEA Telemundo 52 is making some changes and additions to its anchor lineup.

Enrique Chiabra officially takes over as co-anchor of Noticiero Telemundo 52 at 5:30, 6 and 11 pm. He had been filling in since the departure of Julio Vaqueiro, who was promoted to the network’s weekend anchor desk. He’ll continue to co-anchor with Dunia Elvir at 5:30 pm and with Ana Patricia Candiani at 6 and 11 pm.

Guillermo Ochoa joins the station as news anchor of the weekday 5 and 6 am newscasts, replacing Chiabra. He’ll be co-anchoring the morning shows alongside Alejandra Ortiz.

The station is also adding Tania Leal as weekend weather anchor.

Ochoa arrives to Telemundo 52 from Mexico City, where he was most recently news anchor for Televisa’s 24-hour news channel newscast En Una Hora and Paralelo 23, a weekend host of the news radio show Imagen Informativa and columnist for 24 Horas newspaper in Mexico City.

Leal moves to Telemundo 52 from sister-station KTLM Telemundo 40 Rio Grande Valley, where she worked as the weather anchor for the station’s weekday newscasts. She previously worked for Televisa Noreste.

Chiabra, who joined KVEA as morning anchor in 2016, took on his new role earlier this month. Ochoa will make his on-air debut on May 28. Leal starts on June 6.
