Telemundo 47 adds Bretón and Marte, drops two reporters

November 15, 2018 by Veronica Villafañe

Telemundo 47 has added Rosarina Bretón and Eliecer Marte to its news reporting team. The hires were announced after the station dropped two other reporters.

A spokesperson confirmed Fernando Gómez and Nadia Torres are no longer with the company.

Marte joins the New York station after spending more than four years as a national correspondent for Univision network.

He previously worked as a correspondent for Mundo Fox and Spanish Broadcasting System. He was also a contributor to CNN’s Showbiz en Español.

His on-air debut is Monday, November 14.

Bretón arrives from NY1 Noticias, where she worked as a breaking news reporter, traffic reporter and weekend anchor for almost a decade.

She starts at the station next week and is scheduled to go on-air on Thursday, November 22.

Both Marte and Bretón are from the Dominican Republic.

The last sentence says it all “Both Marte and Bretón are from the Dominican Republic” all the people this man has hired since he became news director are Dominican. Althought, the market is probably composed of a big percentage of a Domincan audience, it doesn’t mean all the new hires for management positions, as for on air talent have to be. Let alone fire non Domincans to later blatantly fill their position with Dominicans. He obviously is not afraid of a lawsuit, or simply ignores the fact that there are discrimination laws. I really hope someone puts a stop to this kind of abuse of power not only in New York, but every where.
