Sally Ramirez named EP of Shepard Smith’s new CNBC show

August 25, 2020 by Veronica Villafañe

CNBC has tapped KHOU Executive News Director Sally Ramirez to be the executive producer of the cable network’s upcoming news show “The News With Shepard Smith.”

“This is the perfect job for me. It combines my passion for producing, my creativity and my decades of experience covering big stories,” she tells Media Moves. “I can’t wait to join the talented CNBC family and launch this important newscast anchored by a well-respected veteran journalist like Shepard Smith.”

Ramirez leaves her role at the Houston CBS affiliate this Friday, August 28.

The live, one-hour program is set to premiere Wednesday, September 30 at 7 pm ET.

Prior to joining KHOU in 2016, she spent 17 years at KGW in Portland, Oregon, starting as executive news producer and leaving the station as assistant news director.

Before that, she was a special projects producer at KCRA in Sacramento.

Ramirez also worked as an executive news producer at WGN in Chicago, a news producer at WRC (NBC) in Washington, D.C. and KVOA-TV in Tucson.

She began her career as a producer at NBC affiliate KTSM in El Paso.
