Univision elevates Gianncarlo Cifuentes to VP and Regional News Director of Tampa and Orlando stations

November 11, 2021 by Veronica Villafañe

Gianncarlo Cifuentes continues his move up the executive ladder within Univision. The company has promoted Cifuentes to VP and Regional News Director for its Tampa and Orlando stations.

He will be based in Orlando and begin his new role December 1.

Cifuentes has held various positions within Univision since joining the company in 2002. Currently Regional News Director of Raleigh, Atlanta and Philadelphia since 2017, he has also been a reporter and anchor at the Atlanta station.

He previously worked at KUVN 23 Dallas and CNN en Español in New York and Atlanta.

Univision also promoted José Figueroa, who will take on the role of VP, Director of Sales in Orlando. He joined Univision in 2012 and most recently held the role of National Sales Manager in Miami.

In October, Univision selected Eddy Elguezábal to run Univision Orlando and Univision Tampa as its new president and general manager.

The moves follow Univision’s decision to end its affiliate agreement with Entravision and assume operations of its stations in Orlando, Tampa and Washington D.C., starting January 1, 2022.
