Myrka Dellanos and Giselle Blondet return to TV for launch of Telemundo talk show

February 23, 2022 by Veronica Villafañe

Myrka Dellanos and Giselle Blondet are making a return to TV on Telemundo Network.

Both longtime Univision hosts will join Verónica Bastos and Alix Aspe as part of Telemundo’s new weekday afternoon entertainment talk show La Mesa Caliente.

Presented as a program akin to The View, with “four empowered women, each representing different perspectives and opinions,” the hosts will “discuss the biggest stories and entertainment news of the day, as well as the most controversial real-life issues affecting the U.S. Hispanic community.”

According to sources, Telemundo had explored producing an all-female round table-type talk show years ago but the concept never prospered.

Dellanos is best known for co-hosting Univision’s Primer Impacto for 12 years. She was a guest host on The View in 2006. Her last TV anchoring job was with Estrella TV in Los Angeles from 2013 to 2015, where she anchored network shows El Noticiero EstrellaTV con Myrka and En Exclusiva con Myrka Dellanos.

Blondet, who began her career as a telenovela actress, was part of the inaugural hosting team of Univision’s Despierta América in 1997. Following her departure from the morning show in 2005, she has hosted various TV shows and reality competitions, including Univision’s Nuestra Belleza Latina over the span of seven years and Telemundo’s single season of Gran Hermano. She returned to Univision in 2017 to host one season of Pequeños Gigantes USA.

Verónica Bastos recently cohosted Telemundo’s La Casa de los Famosos Sin Censura and was guest co-host on En Casa con Telemundo. She has spent more than two decades hosting entertainment shows, red carpets and specials in the U.S. and Mexico.

Emmy-award winner Alix Aspe began her career at Telemundo in charge of social media for Noticias Telemundo and Al Rojo Vivo, where she also produced and presented the segment Famosos En La Red. She was also the social media content creator for Un Nuevo Día. In 2020, she joined Telemundo’s LatinX Now team and later En Casa con Telemundo.

La Mesa Caliente premieres March 7 and will air Monday – Friday at 3 pm ET.

The white version of The View. Telewhite strikes again, even worse the View has Whoopi you couldn’t find an Afro-Latina? I will never stopped bringing this up until something is resolved and some action is demanded. End colorism now!!! That should be y’all’s hot topic!!!

TV has been mostly racist by nature and for years.
They pretend to care, donating money, publishing articles and creating woke initiatives and whatnots, but at the end, we all know that it’s a Big White Liberal Man kingdom.
About this new show, nothing new to see there.
      Recycling Corp at its best.
After the first one being cut, they will call Bermudo or MaCeleste and so on.
Chiquibaby no, she applied and was denied.

Different perspectives, but the show would be like The View? Oh nooo! Sorry, but The View is a super liberal and hateful ‘basura’.
I like the presenters of the Telemundo new show, it’s great to see Myrka back, and Giselle, and Alex and Veronica are funny and entertaining, but I doubt that politically we’ll be seeing too much of a different perspective. Telemundo = Democrats, and when they talk about Republicans is with hate and negativity. They don’t even try to hide it. No conservative idea is found anywhere there. Their newscasts with Vaqueiro and others, are just Dems talking points and propaganda. Unwatchable. Everything is according to the Dems view…
Only Republicans like McCain were loved after he snubbed Trump, but before that, they hated him too. Very sad. Our Latino community should not be subject to just Dems and Liberal propaganda. Hopefully these ladies (or more importantly their producers and the network) can see that NOT ALL LATINOS are for Liberalism or Socialism, that we are diverse in many ways. Univision already promotes that, and in fact, Telemundo seems to be doing even worse. We’re very ‘cansados’ of being fed Dems and Liberal propaganda, and tired of being treated like puppets that can’t think.

I am completely independent I’m not dem or rep. Now issues like confronting colorism, or racial issues within the community that isn’t liberal or conservative those are just plain Latino issues. But your right Telemundo when it comes to political news coverage they are Dem 1st, not Audience 1st.

Well, I think issues with colorism, or internal problem are not liberal or conservative. Also, I’m an independent who has progressive views. But yes I do believe Telemundo political news coverage can be slanted to the left a lot.

Wow! Another “desperate” (for lack of a better word) move by the geniuses in the programming department of Telemundo!!! Same programming concept implemented by the heads of that network division for many years (e.g. Suelta la Sopa, etc…) but now with a different name and talent. A question in good spanish: Hasta cuando Señores??? You are losing ratings and definitely are afraid to create new programming. Please hire a true programmer that can think outside the box!
