Luis Patiño has joined Austin PBS as Chief Executive Officer.
He’ll oversee operations of the community-supported, locally owned PBS station in Central Texas.
He started the new job this week, just days after exiting Univision, following a 17-year career with the Spanish-language media company.
Patiño returns to Texas from California, where he was most recently president and general manager of KMEX Univision 34 Los Angeles.
Media Moves reported last week that Patiño resigned to the post he held since 2014 and that he was heading back Austin for a job with a public media company.
The move marks his return to Austin. Before his move to California, Patiño was SVP of Univision Television Group, based in the Texas state capital.
Patiño previously served on the Austin PBS board between 2013 and 2015.
