Luis Patiño resigns from Univision 34, Alejandra Santamaría to step in as interim GM

March 16, 2022 by Veronica Villafañe

Luis Patiño has resigned to his position as president and general manager of KMEX Univision 34 Los Angeles. His last day at the station is this Friday, March 18.

Alejandra Santamaría, VP and Director of local sales for Los Angeles since 2019, who has worked at Univision for the past 30 years, will take over the role on an interim basis, until his replacement is announced, said a company spokesperson.

Patiño has worked in various management roles within the company for almost 17 years. He arrived to lead KMEX in 2014. He was previously SVP of Univision Television Group, based in Austin, TX.

A source says Patiño announced his departure in an unscheduled staff meeting, during which he shared he was returning to Austin where he would start a job with a public media company.

A rep for Patiño would not confirm or comment on his next career step, but indicated an announcement could be released next week.
