Analía Fiestas, Carlos Zapata and Karuska Matos named anchors for Noticias Telemundo Texas

Analia Fiestas - Carlos Zapata - Karuska Matos

As previously reported by Media Moves in August, Telemundo today confirmed it has chosen Analía Fiestas and Carlos Zapata as anchors for regional show Noticias Telemundo Texas and that  Karuska Matos will be the morning newscast’s meteorologist.

The show premieres September 26 and will air Monday to Friday from 5am to 7am CT on Telemundo stations KXTX Dallas-Fort Worth, KTMD Houston, KVDA San Antonio, KTLM Harlingen-McAllen and KTDO El Paso.

With this role, Fiestas expands her current news Anchor duties for Telemundo 39’s midday newscasts.

Zapata, most recently a news anchor at WNJU New York since 2020, returns to Dallas two years after his departure from KXTX.

Matos joins the new morning anchor team from Univision’s KXLN Houston.

The newscast will make use of existing reporters from its Texas-owned stations, which will deliver reports and breaking news updates from their communities.

Fiestas, a native of Peru, has been with Telemundo for seven years. She joined KXTX Telemundo 39 as reporter in 2016, after working as a news reporter associate for the Telemundo Station Group’s Miami bureau for a year. She was promoted to midday newscast anchor in 2018. She also contributes to NBC 5’s newscasts

Zapata, a native of Colombia, began his journalism career in Ecuador. He has spent nine years working at Telemundo-owned stations. During his prior stint at KXTX from 2013 to 2020, he worked his way up from video journalist to news anchor.

Matos, a native of Puerto Rico, joins the Telemundo station group for the first time after working as meteorologist for Univision’s KXLN-TV in Houston and AccuWeather.
