Nancy Alvarez to join WESH, marking return to anchor desk

December 6, 2022 by Veronica Villafañe

Nancy Alvarez is joining Orlando’s NBC affiliate WESH-2, marking her return to the anchor desk after a year-long break from news.

She’ll start anchoring the noon and 4 pm newscasts in January 2023.

In her new role, Alvarez will also work on special projects and provide Spanish-language content for sister station Estrella TV Orlando.

Alvarez left WFTV Channel 9 in 2021, where she spent 11 years, for a job as SVP of community relations and Equity Impact at Heart of Florida United Way, after a 20-year career as a reporter and anchor at various Florida television stations.

Before joining WFTV in 2010, Alvarez worked at WBBH NBC2 in Fort Myers, WKMG-TV and Central Florida News 13 in Orlando.
