Univision announces dates for “Meet the Candidates” forums

September 12, 2012 by Veronica Villafañe

Mark your calendars!  Univision News and Facebook will host their “Meet the Candidates” conversations with Republican presidential candidate, Governor Mitt Romney next Wednesday, September 19, 2012 and with President Barack Obama’s on Thursday, September 20, 2012.

After Univision anchors Jorge Ramos and María Elena Salinas got rejected to moderate presidential debates, the network set up their own forums with Republican Mitt Romney and Democrat President Barack Obama.  They won’t be debates, since both men won’t meet face to face, but Univision has promoted the events as the only forum where both presidential candidates will discuss the issues of utmost importance to Hispanics.

The “Meet the Candidates” events will both take place in front of a live audience at the University of Miami BankUnited Center Fieldhouse.  They will be moderated by “Noticiero Univision” anchors Jorge Ramos and María Elena Salinas.  They will air at 10 pm ET.

The conversations will be streamed on the Univision Noticias Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/univisionnoticias), with Facebook’s politics hub (http://www.facebook.com/uspolitics) also highlighting the events.
