Valdes joins Noticias Telemundo

Elizabeth Valdes

Elizabeth Valdés has joined Noticias Telemundo as the new Director of News Gathering, reporting to Sylvia Rosabal.  She started the job this past Monday, October 29th.

In this role, Elizabeth will supervise the news gathering for all properties including “Al Rojo Vivo” and “Noticiero Telemundo,” as well as news segments for “Un Nuevo Día.” She’ll be responsible for developing content for breaking news, daily news coverage and planned events, such as U.S. and foreign elections and natural disaster coverage.

The news gathering functions of the national and international bureaus and correspondents will report to her. She will also work with news operations for a more centralized approach to crew deployment and with the production coordinator on management of resources and budgets and collaborate closely with correspondents and producers and work with the planning manager and special events teams on future coverage.

Elizabeth previously spent 14 years as Assignment Manager for Noticias Univision. Before that, she was Executive Producer for CBS Telenoticias and “Noticiero Telemundo.” Prior to Telemundo, she was the News Director at WLTV-23, Univision’s Miami affiliate.

Elizabeth is part of the news executive team that was ousted from Univision when the network went through management changes.  She’s the fourth member of that team that has moved over to Telemundo network in the past year.  Former Univision News President Alina Falcón joined Telemundo as Senior Executive Vice President, News and Alternative Programming in November of 2011.  María López Alvarez, previously VP and Director of News/Entertainment for Univision Network, was named Telemundo SVP of Alternative Programming in January of 2012, and  Sylvia Rosabal, former Univision VP of News, joined Telemundo as SVP of Network News  in March of 2012.
