It didn’t take long. Piolín is back on radio… on satellite radio. Sirius XM announced today it will launch Piolín Radio, a new entertainment channel anchored by Eddie “Piolín” Sotelo’s own daily, morning-drive show, “El Show de Piolin.”
The announcement comes 3 weeks after Piolín was pulled off the air from Univision Radio, in a surprise and allegedly amicable parting of the ways. Days later, reports surfaced that a co-worker filed a sexual harassment complaint against Eddie Sotelo. A female ex co-worker also came forward to expose Piolín’s inappropriate behavior. Piolín vehemently denied the claims via press release.
Sirius XS is billing it as “his first true national platform,” compared to his previously nationally syndicated show on Univision Radio.
“I am honored SiriusXM believes in me. As I tell my listeners, ‘We came to succeed.’ And now, as we step up to a new level, I will be doing that on the biggest radio platform possible,” Piolín said in a prepared statement. “I can’t wait to fly free and for the first time be truly available coast-to-coast. I am excited that my listeners will be able to tune in to Piolín Radio at home, in the car or anywhere mobile. ”
“El Show de Piolín” will be a live, 4-hour call-in show that will include discussion of the day’s events, surprise interviews with celebrity guests, listener call-ins, pranks, music and more.
His exclusive show and the channel, Piolín Radio, will launch on SiriusXM later this year. According to a Sirius XM release, Piolín Radio will cover the spectrum of entertainment and more details on the launch date of the channel and Piolin’s daily show will be announced soon.
Piolín Radio will join the SiriusXM lineup of 10 Spanish-language satellite channels, which includes Cristina Radio.
It’s not the first time Sirius picks up a controversial radio DJ. It signed a deal with Howard Stern in 2004, with the “shock jock” starting his show on satellite radio in 2006.
