Telemundo network adds late night weekend newscast

July 9, 2020 by Veronica Villafañe

Noticias Telemundo is expanding its weekend news programming.

The network is adding a new late-night weekend national newscast, “Noticias Telemundo Fin de Semana,” starting Saturday, July 18.

Vanessa Hauc will anchor the newscast, which will air on Saturday and Sunday nights at 11:30 pm ET/10:30 pm CT. The time is subject to change based on local programming.

Hauc has been anchoring the 6:30 pm ET/ 5:30 pm CT edition of the weekend newscast since March, when Julio Vaqueiro left the spot to anchor the network’s coronavirus-focused new late-night weekday newscast.

The late-night weekend newscast is part of Telemundo’s Decision 2020 initiative to provide extensive news coverage about key issues ahead of this year’s elections.

When the new newscast launches, Telemundo Deportes’ “Zona Mixta,” the weekend edition of “Titulares y Más,” will continue to air at 11 pm ET/10 pm CT in select markets, followed by the new national newscast. In other markets, “Zona Mixta” air at midnight, after late local news and the national newscast.

Telemundo is officially Univision now… Enough said… except I had a radical thought this would happen. Now I can really see the network doing wall-to-wall if needed for super-long breaking news coverage. But back to what I said earlier Telemundo is now Univision In competitivity every night seven days a week 6:30 P.M. and 11:30 P.M. Like I said enough said…
