Enrique Acevedo will guest co-host CBS This Morning

May 23, 2021 by Veronica Villafañe

Enrique Acevedo is getting some high profile exposure on CBS News this coming week. He’ll be guest co-host on CBS This Morning May 24-28, filling in for Tony Dokoupil, who is out on paternity leave.

He is the second former Univision network anchor to step in as a guest co-host on the CBS’s morning show. María Elena Salinas filled in for Gayle King in 2019.

Acevedo joined CBS news as a correspondent for 60 Minutes+, the streaming edition of the 60 Minutes Sunday newsmagazine in the summer of 2020. Since joining CBS, he has also contributed to broadcast coverage for the network, including Election Night 2020.

He previously worked as anchor of Noticiero Univision’s Edición Nocturna, since 2012.

While at Univision, he was tapped for the short-lived 60 MINUTES program 60 IN 6 on the now defunct Quibi platform.

Prior to Univision, Acevedo spent a year as a Telemundo network news correspondent, arriving to the U.S. from Televisa.

Why wasn’t Acevedo introduced on CBS This Morning and basically ignored?

I agree that he was not introduced properly as you did others. I had to look him up. Knew his face but not who was.

I agree with others. I like him. Great camera prescence. Adds diversity that CBS is trying to accomplish. But…Gail and Tony don’t seem as friendly to him as to others—leaving him out of the general banter.

May 28, 2021: I truly enjoyed morning show this week with all the guests filling in while Tony is out for family bonding.
I must say I was glad you did mot put Val in each day. Unfortunately, I find Val,s constant nervous laughter, along with rocking back & forth, rather annoying so early in the morning. Every segment cannot be filled with laughing.?

Love the introduction on diversity there. Accent is perfect to show anyone with an accent can achieve in life! And they are actually a major part of our society this days! Please Gale and Tony acknowledge Hume more!
