Leon Krauze - Patricia Janiot

León Krauze leaves KMEX to co-anchor Univision network news

January 12, 2022 by Veronica Villafañe

After a 10-year run as weeknight anchor of Univision’s KMEX 34 in Los Angeles, León Krauze is making the move to network news.

Univision announced today Krauze will co-anchor its late night “Noticiero Univision Edición Nocturna,” alongside Patricia Janiot, starting January 24, 2022.

Upon his departure, Andrea González, 6 and 11 pm co-anchor will continue solo until the station names Krauze’s replacement.*

Krauze’s arrival to KMEX in December 2011 marked his first U.S.-based broadcast media job. At the time, he replaced longtime anchor Raúl Peimbert, who is currently lead anchor at Univision Houston.

Over the course of his L.A. tenure, Krauze has worked outside the confines for the local station. He had a short-lived English-language talk show on the now defunct Fusion cable network and has written for various publications, including Foreign Affairs, The New Republic, Foreign Policy, Newsweek, Los Angeles Times, El País, Letras Libres, The Daily Beast and The New Yorker.

In addition to hosting “Epicentro,” a weekly news podcast for Univision News, he’s currently a weekly columnist for Mexico’s El Universal and for The Washington Post‘s Global Opinions section.

Prior to joining Univision, he worked in print, radio and television in his native Mexico, including Foro TV, Televisa’s 24/7 news network.

* Story updated to include KMEX’s anchor situation following Krauze’s departure.

After 10 years waiting for a plan that never became a reality as expected.
But now, with Televisa finally piloting at the helm of the Doral Mothership, it will be a very interesting ring a to observe as for a Ramos-Krause match.
Maybe its ime for those bosses to send us Mr. Peimbert back here in LA, from where he never wanted to leave to begin with.

Peimbert is boring and his voice is dated. He sounds like those boxing and lucha libre announcers from the 1950’s.

Leon Krauze is a super conservative and boring person who hates AMLO. He is not the right match for Univision.
