González named VP Programing at KMVK

Jimmy GonzalezJimmy “JD” González has been named VP of Spanish Programming for CBS Radio and Program Director for KMVK-FM  “Mega 107.5” in Dallas, effective immediately.

Prior to joining CBS Radio, he spent six years as SVP of Programming at Univision in Dallas.  Before that, he held programming and operations positions with Univision and Hispanic Broadcasting in Houston and San Antonio. 

González replaces Pio Ferro, who started a new job in Miami as Programming Director for “Power 96” WPOW.

CBS currently has four Spanish-language stations: KMVK-FM, Dallas; KLOL-FM, Houston; WLZL-FM, Washington DC; and WYUU-FM, Tampa.

Tamez named KUVN-23 news director

Carlos Tamez has been named News Director for Univision’s O&O in Dallas. He officially starts the new position on November 1st.

He replaces Martha Kattan, who was named News Director of Univision Houston.

Carlos was most recently Executive Producer for KUVN-23’s newscasts.  He joined the station as a news producer in 2003.

Prior to joining Univision in Dallas, Carlos spent 9 years as a news producer in Mexico City’s CNI Canal 40.

Guerra hired at KXAS

Reporter Amanda Guerra returns home to Dallas. Starting June 13th, she’ll be starting a new job as reporter at NBC-5.

Amanda leaves her job at KOCO-TV in Oklahoma, where she has spent almost 3 and ½ years as a general assignments reporter. She was previously an intern at the station.

I'm an Emmy award-winning journalist, who's worked as an on-air reporter in Spanish and English-language television news. In addition to running Media Moves, which I founded in 2007, I'm a regular contributor to Forbes, writing about Hispanic media and entertainment. I am also a freelance writer, reporter and producer. I've worked for Univision, Telemundo, CNN en Español and Los Angeles Fox and UPN stations before diving into a convergence model at the San Jose Mercury News, later becoming a digital media manager. I was president of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists from 2004 to 2006, and inducted into the Hall of Fame in August of 2016.
