Tamez named Director of Excelsior TV

Carlos_TamezCarlos Tamez, who resigned as Executive Producer for Telemundo Houston in February, has been named Director of Excélsior TV, a Mexican television 24-hour news channel owned by Grupo Imagen Multimedia.

Carlos was hired to run Excélsior TV and help launch a new network expected to debut this summer.

“I am thrilled with this opportunity to grow in my career,” he tells Media Moves. “It’s a historic moment for Mexican TV. Excélsior TV will be strategic for the launching of this third network. We have the best multimedia journalists in the country, with reporters from Mexican newspaper Excélsior which is going to celebrate its 100th Anniversary next year. And we have very exciting plans to deliver a different option to our audience through all our platforms.”

Prior to working for Telemundo, Carlos spent 10 years at KUVN-23, Univision’s O&O in Dallas, working his way up to News Director.

Tamez resigns from Telemundo Houston

Tamez resigns from Telemundo Houston

Carlos TamezCarlos Tamez, Executive Producer for Telemundo Houston’s 10 pm newscast, has resigned to return to Mexico. His last day at the station is March 11.

“I decided to return to Mexico where I accepted an offer to join an ambitious project which I can not give further details at this time,” Carlos tells Media Moves.

“I’m very grateful to my colleagues for this wonderful experience. I want to thank station manager Tony Canales, whose vision and leadership have consolidated KTMD as a great station and a great place to do journalism in Spanish. NBC/Telemundo is a a great place to work and I wish all my colleagues continued success.”

Carlos joined KTMD in 2013. Before that, he spent 10 years at KUVN-23, Univision’s O&O in Dallas, working his way up to News Director.  He previously worked in Mexico City’s CNI Canal 40.

Tamez lands as EP in Telemundo Houston

Carlos TamezCarlos Tamez has been hired as Executive Producer for KTMD-47, the Telemundo O&O in Houston.  He left KUVN-23, Univision’s O&O in Dallas in October, where he had been news director since 2011.

Carlos had been at KUVN since 2003, starting out as a news producer and later promoted to Executive Producer in May of 2006.  Before Univision, he spent 9 years as a news producer in Mexico City’s CNI Canal 40.

Tamez out at Univision Dallas

Carlos TamezAfter two years on the job, Carlos Tamez is no longer news director of KUVN-23, Univision’s O&O in Dallas.

Sources say he was let go on Monday, but in an email message, he states he made the decision to leave due to personal reasons.

“It’s been a privilege and a a great satisfaction to have worked with such a great team of journalists. I wish them the best of success,” he wrote in the email to Media Moves. “I’m going to use the time to rest and analyze different options to continue my professional career.”

Carlos took over the position in 2011, after Martha Kattan left the station to become news director of KXLN Univision 45 in Houston.

Carlos joined KUVN as a news producer in 2003, and was promoted to Executive Producer in May of 2006.  Before Univision, he spent 9 years as a news producer in Mexico City’s CNI Canal 40.

Tamez named KUVN-23 news director

Carlos Tamez has been named News Director for Univision’s O&O in Dallas. He officially starts the new position on November 1st.

He replaces Martha Kattan, who was named News Director of Univision Houston.

Carlos was most recently Executive Producer for KUVN-23’s newscasts.  He joined the station as a news producer in 2003.

Prior to joining Univision in Dallas, Carlos spent 9 years as a news producer in Mexico City’s CNI Canal 40.
