Univision today announced the promotion of two of its executives.

Sandra Smester was upped from SVP to Executive Vice President of Programming for Univision Network.

She’ll continue to be based in Miami and report to Alberto Ciurana, President of Programming and Content for UCI.

Smester currently oversees the entire Univision Network programming block.

Smester first joined Univision as a promotions intern in 1998, working her way up to SVP of Programming in 2013.

Daniel Coronell was also promoted today, from SVP to Executive Vice President and Executive Director of News.

He’ll continue reporting directly to Isaac Lee, President of News & Digital at UCI, and CEO of Fusion.

Coronell, who was hired in January of 2011 as VP and News Director, was promoted to SVP and Executive News Director in 2012.

Before Univision, Coronell was Director of “Noticias Uno,” a national newscast airing on Colombia’s Canal Uno television network, and also directed national newscasts for RCN TV.
