Freddy Oldenburg returns to Texas as VP of News at Telemundo Houston

January 12, 2023 by Veronica Villafañe 9 Comments

Freddy Oldenburg is moving back to Texas. He has been named VP of News for KTMD Telemundo Houston.

He’ll be leaving his current post as VP of News at WNJU Telemundo New York, where he has worked since April 2020.

His last day at WNJU is February 3.

Alexa Rodriguez will become WNJU’s interim news director starting Monday, February.

Oldenburg will lead the day-to-day news operations of Telemundo Houston starting February 13.

The position had been vacant since Jerry Vazquez’s death in October 2022.

Oldenburg was previously VP of News at Telemundo 39 KXTX-TV Dallas-Fort Worth and also at Telemundo 48 KSTS-TV in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Before that, he was assistant news director at KVEA Telemundo 52 in Los Angeles and executive producer for Univision network in Miami.

Oldenburg began his career in broadcasting as an anchor and reporter for RCTV in his native Venezuela.

Suerte a Houston!

Everyone is aware that Telemundo 47 is the little empire run by CS with an iron fist. He knew what he was getting into way before moving North.
Now, your Intel is a bit off. FO would never place someone with the non proper looks in The Big Chair. And CZ decided for safer pastures. At the end of the day, Look sells. And as for Ochoa, he is under contract, carrying a powerful lastname and the right nationality for that market. So, they stole from you.

Looks sell? Dont tell me you are saying Zapata is the best fit on camera because no one would agree to that not sure how he even made it to the Big Apple! As for Mrs Oldenburg taking Zapata to Houston i wouldnt doubt he soon leaves dallas where he is not the most loved one anyways. Zapata likes keeping Olden happy by doing whatever he is not asked to do. Good luck Houston

Bye Bye “Fracaso Freddy”. Trust me no one in NY will miss him. Pobre gente en Houston no tiene idea de lo que le espera!
Several quit because of him and he’s been taken to HR more times than anyone can count. He destroyed morale and the newsroom. El tipo no tiene ideas y está perdido. El es el payaso del duoploy en NY.
Why would anyone hire this guy? Is the talent pool so shallow that he is the best they can scrape up? T47 now has a chance now to undo all the damage.
